Who doesn’t love a good DIY project?

Category News

It’s creative, fulfilling, and most often the more cost-effective way to go about giving your home a facelift. But who has the time, you might ask. How about setting aside just one weekend for DIY projects? Turn off the phone, tell your friends to reschedule for next weekend, and finally get down to some TLC for your home. The following DIY projects can all be tackled in the space of one weekend. Choose one, or two, or however many you think you can squeeze into a weekend.

Painting

Crank up the tunes and let out your colourful side. Anything around the house that could do with a new coat of colour? Like the interior walls, or just one accent wall to elongate your space. Perhaps the garage door or kitchen cabinet? Another fun thing to do is to paint an old piece of furniture a bright colour and stick it in the garden for a splash of colour. Tackle all the paint jobs you’ve been meaning to do in one weekend.

A stone pathway

Build a stone path outside to spruce up the yard. Usually you just need the stones laid over a sand bed. No need for installing a base or complicated cutting and fitting.

New door

Changing the front door alters the whole visage of your house. You don’t need a brand new door though, which can be expensive. How about just staining and finishing it? Or else you could just include it as part of your painting weekend and give it a new colour. Don’t be afraid to be adventurous with your colours and make your home stand out.

Install a solar-powered lamp

How about an upgrade that shines light while not adding to your energy bill? If there’s a spot outside in the yard that could do with more light, than this is the perfect solution, because you won’t have to worry about complicated electric wiring. There are solar lamps now that are reliable, effective and affordable.
