Tzaneen is known as The Fruit Basket. It is rich with the natural resources needed for economic growth: fertile land, plenty of water and a sub-tropical climate. Tzaneen lies in the valley of the Letaba River and Magoebaskloof mountains and is the capital of the Letaba District east of Polokwane.Tzaneen is the largest town in the Letaba District and the second largest town in the Limpopo Province and is encircled by low hills and the towering Northern Drakensberg Mountains. Tzaneen is only an hour away from the Kruger National Park. The Tzaneen area consists of four sub-areas within 30 km radius of the town, each being very unique and special. South West of Tzaneen is Magoebaskloof and the quaint town of Haenertsburg in the Magoebaskloof mountains, also known as the Land of the Silvermist. South of Tzaneen is Agatha, with awesome views of the Drakensberg Mountains and Letsitele Valley below. South East of Tzaneen is Nkowankowa and the citrus town of Letsitele.
